FAA Investigates Racine County Crash

Posted: Saturday, March 23, 2013 --- 5:48p.m.

RACINE, Wis. (AP) -- The Federal Aviation Administration says a pilot who crash-landed on Interstate 94 in Racine County in October was flying in weather that left other pilots wondering what he was doing.

A Journal Times of Racine report (http://bit.ly/11wlaJg ) says pilot Keith George overshot the runway at Yorkville's Sylvania Airport and skidded onto the freeway. His passenger was injured.

George was flying a Beech B90 plane, which requires that weather conditions be clear enough that the pilot can see where the aircraft is going.

George told an investigator the weather was substantially clear throughout his flight from Jackson, Mich. But the FAA says it was poor enough to require instruments to fly in.

Other aviators told the FAA they couldn't believe George was flying in that weather.

The FAA says it's considering enforcement actions.
