Fight Breaks Out After Milwaukee Sentencing

Posted Wednesday, November 28, 2012 --- 6:59 p.m.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Several people are under arrest after a fight broke out after a Milwaukee man was sentenced for causing a boy's death.

Dedrick Ashford was sentenced Wednesday to one year in prison and one year probation for striking and killing 6-year-old Christopher Wade with his car in April.

According to the criminal complaint, Ashford told police he knew he was driving without a license and had smoked marijuana a few hours before he got behind the wheel.

WISN-TV reports the victim's family was upset with the sentence and began screaming and yelling.

The melee spilled into the hallway outside of the Milwaukee Safety Building courtroom, where several people were arrested and some were injured. The sheriff's department says three people are in custody.

Our legislative and executive branches of govt have failed us a long time ago (and continue to do so). The judicial branch is joining the party. You get more time for killing a cat or a dog than killing a person. Where's the justice?

Was this judge smoking marijuana before the sentencing? Sometimes our judicial system floors me.

I think I would be pretty PO'd with that sentance too. That is nothing for killing someone. He was high, and hit him with a car....WTF???
