UPDATE: Jail Time for Principal Who Delivered Drugs

UPDATED Friday, April 12, 2013 --- 10:32 a.m.

ANTIGO, Wis. (AP) -- Relatives and friends urged a Langlade County judge to sentence a former principal to community service for providing marijuana to school staff and coaches.

But, Judge Fred Kawalski sentenced John Lund to three months in jail and 18 months of probation during a court appearance Thursday.

The 48-year-old former Antigo elementary school principal and high school football coach was also ordered to serve 200 hours of community service. Lund apologized to family and friends in court for letting them down.

WJFW-TV reports Lund's parents and others testified about his character and pleaded for leniency. He was accused of sharing marijuana with school staff and coaches in Antigo and Merrill.

ANTIGO, Wis. (AP) -- A former Antigo elementary school principal has pleaded guilty to a marijuana manufacturing charge in an agreement with prosecutors.

Six other drug counts against 48-year-old John Lund were dismissed Tuesday in Langlade County Circuit Court.

Lund was principal at Pleasant View Elementary School and was also the football coach at Antigo High School. A criminal complaint says Lund got marijuana from a relative and gave some to Scot Peterson, a retired teacher and former football coach. Peterson earlier reached a plea deal and was sentenced to six months in prison.

WSAW-TV says sentencing for Lund is March 6. He faces a maximum three years in prison.
