SEATTLE (AP) -- Wisconsin has won its bid to be relieved of some requirements of the federal "No Child Left Behind" education law. That's according to the New York Times. A formal announcement that Washington state and Wisconsin have been granted waivers is expected today.

JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) -- The Wisconsin heat wave has turned deadly. The Rock County coroner's office says the death of an 83-year-old woman at her home yesterday is "definitely heat-related." The state has had several days of high temperatures near 100 degrees.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Democrat Tom Barrett spent $3.7 million in the weeks around the governor's recall election last month. Campaign finance reports also show that Governor Scott Walker spent nearly $7 million from May 22nd through June 27th. Walker has raised more than $37 million since he took office last year.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin is giving financial assistance to about 40 farmers to help boost milk production by the end of the decade. The money is intended to help the state produce 30 billion pounds of milk each year by 2020.
