MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Authorities in Wisconsin have arrested a fugitive who was wanted in Alabama on charges of attempted murder and armed robbery.
U.S. Marshal Kevin Carr said Wednesday that Lavonte Conn was being held in the Milwaukee County Jail, where he awaits extradition back to Selma, Alabama.
Carr says the charges stem from a robbery in Selma on April 30. He says Conn pointed a handgun at two people in a car and demanded everything they had. Carr says Conn shot one person in the back and took off running.
Authorities say the driver got out and chased Conn, who allegedly shot the driver in the leg, abdomen and torso. The victim survived.
Investigators followed up on leads in the Milwaukee area, where Conn had relatives. They arrested him without incident Tuesday.
