MILWAUKEE (AP) -- An armed fugitive has been shot and critically wounded while fleeing U.S. marshals on Milwaukee's south side.
U.S. Marshal Kevin Carr tells the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (http://bit.ly/KyS4yG) the man is expected to survive.
Carr says deputies were conducting a traffic stop when the wanted man fled about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The man was shot on the street and a firearm was recovered from him.
No law enforcement officers were hurt.
Carr says the Milwaukee area man was wanted for violating terms of supervised release on a firearms charge.
Milwaukee police and the Milwaukee County district attorney's office are investigating.

Milwaukee police said they are on the scene but that it is a U.S. marshal's case.
