Grand Jury Indicts Man for Medicaid Fraud

Posted: Wednesday, April 18, 2012 --- 4:15p.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A federal grand jury in Madison has brought more than two dozen new charges against a Washington state man accused of Medicaid fraud.

Sixty-four-year-old Dennis Vandermause of Colbert, Wash., was originally indicted on 16 counts of Medicaid fraud in December.

According to that indictment, Vandermause ran a Wisconsin-based mental health care provider called The Family Resource Group. The indictment alleges he billed Medicaid for $170,460 worth of services the organization never provided.

On Wednesday a grand jury added 27 more counts to the indictment, including seven more counts of fraudulent reimbursement claims and 20 counts of submitting a false document to a federally-funded health care program. The new indictment alleges he bilked the government out of at least $173,430.

Vandermause's attorney didn't immediately return a message.
