Highway worker hurt by shovel in Fox Valley

VILLAGE OF LITTLE CHUTE, Wis. (AP) -- An Outagamie County highway worker suffered serious injuries after being hit by a shovel that fell from a truck.

The Fox Valley Metro Police Department says it happened about 9 a.m. Thursday in the Village of Little Chute.

WBAY-TV (http://bit.ly/1oRP5lf ) reports the employee was working along U.S. Highway 441 southbound at the Fox River when the shovel fell from a passing pickup truck and struck the worker on the head, causing "significant injuries."

Police says the vehicle is described as an older model white Ford F250 or Ford F350 with a ladder or utility rack.
