TOWN OF MISHICOT, Wis. (AP) -- Manitowoc County's sheriff says investigators have uncovered the largest outdoor marijuana grow operation he's ever encountered in three decades.

Sheriff Robert Hermann says nearly 300 marijuana plants were found on a rural property in the Town of Mishicot. Hermann says the plants would have yielded about 200 pounds of marijuana worth up to a half million dollars.

The sheriff tells WLUK-TV (http://bit.ly/1fsl0JQ ) he got a tip from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources about the pot farm. Hermann says the 49-year-old property owner was growing marijuana on eight separate plots partially hidden by trees.

Authorities say the property owner is the only suspect at this point.
