MERRILL, Wis. (AP) -- A sheriff's department in northern central Wisconsin is warning anglers of thieves targeting ice fishing shanties.
WSAW-TV reports the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department has received multiple reports of thefts recently, with Lake Alexander being the latest target.
They are telling anglers to take their valuable when they leave for the day.
Thieves have been forcing entry and stealing ice fishing supplies, like augers.
This year, thieves are also taking propane tanks. Propane prices have been increasing due to the ultra-cold weather, depleted storage reservoirs and pipeline problems.
