FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) -- A convenience store in Fond du Lac that became a destination for lottery players because of its winning streak is closing.
Ma & Pa's Grocery Express has been a longtime cornerstone of the city's so-called `miracle mile.' Since 1994, the store has sold more than 20 big winning lottery tickets. Miracle mile earned its moniker after four multi-million dollar winning tickets were sold between 1990 and 1994 with a payout of about $160 million.
But even lottery sales weren't enough to keep Ma & Pa's open. Owner Mitch Miles tells The Reporter (http://fondul.ac/LFrxmm ) he has struggled to compete on gas prices, eventually losing $900 a day on gas sales.
