CLARNO, Wis. (AP) -- Authorities in southern Wisconsin say a man driving a milk truck collided with and killed two cows that had wandered onto a road.

The Green County sheriff's office says the 26-year-old man was driving in the Town of Clarno on Thursday evening when he came across a number of cows in the road.

The driver told authorities he braked and swerved but couldn't avoid hitting two cows.

Deputies say the milk truck sustained moderate front-end damage. The owner of the cows was contacted to remove the animals.

At 7:05 p.m., Deputies responded to the 7200 block of STH 11 in the town of Clarno, for a Milk truck vs. two cows. James E. Munn II, 26, of Orfordville was driving a Milk truck owned by Strunz Milk Transport, west on STH 11 came upon numerous head of cattle in the west bound lane of STH 11. Munn applied his brakes and swerved but was unable to miss striking and killing two cows. Munn and a passenger were wearing their seatbelts and were not injured. Munn's vehicle received moderate front end damage and was towed from the scene. The owner of the cattle, Timothy M. McGuire; Monroe was contacted and removed the animals.
