MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A new study released today shows that controversial cuts to Wisconsin teachers' benefits last year offset about two-thirds of the losses in state aid to school districts. The report by the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance shows school districts across the state collectively cut spending on health and pension benefits by about $287 million. That includes benefit cuts from a larger number of retirements and layoffs.

RACINE, Wis. (AP) -- Funeral services will be held later this week for three children who died in a Racine house fire. Visitation will be held Thursday for 8-year-old Dalijah Scott, 9-year-old Dayja Scott and 7-year-old Michael Scott. A funeral will be held on Friday.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Governor Scott Walker is searching for a replacement for a retiring Marathon County Circuit Court judge. Vincent Howard will retire in February.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin agriculture officials are asking deer hunters to be careful not to spread invasive pests. Hunters who may be camping should only use firewood from the area where they're setting up or buy wood from a certified dealer.
