National Night Out
Celebration At Penn Park Tuesday
The Madison Police Department invites you to attend South Madison's 2012 National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, August 7th, at Penn Park.
National Night Out focuses on building partnerships between law enforcement and the community. The event is nationally sponsored by Target Corporation's "Target & Blue" program to support law enforcement. Police departments nationwide will connect with community partners to celebrate community safety and this year's theme, "Taking Back our Neighborhood." The family-friendly event is free for the community.
The event will feature a march through the neighborhood surrounding Penn Park to celebrate community unity. After the march a barbecue will be open to the community and food will be served by MPD's South District Community Policing Team.
There will be featured speakers including representatives from the Madison Police Department, youth representatives from the Boys and Girls Club of Dane County, and leaders from a variety of community resource groups such as Madison Area Urban Ministry and the Urban League of Greater Madison. Other community resource groups will be present to share their mission and host activities for families.
Local entertainers will also performer throughout the night. These include Owls, Foxes, and Sebastian, the Mt. Zion Youth Gospel Choir, MPD Officer Anthony Ward, and many others.
The evening will close with a candlelight vigil for those impacted by neighborhood violence and stargazing at the UW Space Place just a few blocks from the park.
The schedule for the evening will be as follows:
5:00 PM - Gather at Penn Park to make signs for the march. Performances will begin at this time.
5:45PM - Community march
6:15 PM - Formal welcome from Club Today Not Tomorrow and Penn Park Partners
6:30PM - Community Barbeque served by MPD officers
7:00PM - Speakers, entertainment, and community-building
8:30PM - Candlelight vigil followed by stargazing at UW Space Place.

The Dane County Sheriff's Office would like to invite citizens to a "Night Out." Come join the Sheriff's Office and law enforcement agencies throughout the country for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 7th.
This unique crime and drug prevention event will be held at Kalscheur Park in the town of Cross Plains.
From 5:00 to 8:00 pm, numerous members of the Dane County Sheriff's Office specialized units including: Tactical Response Team, Boat Patrol, Traffic Team, Motorcycle Patrol, K9 Unit, and Bike Patrol will be present. The Sheriff's Office National Night Out will also feature representatives from the DNR, Cross Plains Fire and EMS, Reptile Rapture, Dane County Communications Center, Med Flight, and McGruff the Crime Dog.
From Rock County Sheriff's Department:
Sheriff Robert Spoden is pleased to invite the citizens of Rock County to the National Night Out crime prevention event on Tuesday, August 7, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Schilberg Park, located at 30 W. High Street in Milton, WI.
The Rock County Sheriff's Office has been working with the Milton Police Department to plan a crime prevention event that promotes law enforcement-community partnerships. Twenty-nine years ago, the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) began holding these crime prevention events. Presently, across the country, over 39 million people in more than 16,000 communities are involved in National Night Out events.
Our National Night Out event will provide an opportunity for free family fun and interaction with law enforcement and community partners. Free food and drink will be available. There will be a free bounce house and games for children, a display of emergency vehicles, SWAT, K-9 and Taser demonstrations, along with public information displays from community groups. Milton Fire/EMS will also be conducting demonstrations of fire safety equipment. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will have a simulation display on Motorcycle safety. AAA's Distracted Driver Experience will be on site. The Med-Flight helicopter will be available for tours. There will be a free raffle for kids' bikes and other prizes.
From Middleton Police Department:
You and your family are invited to attend the 2012 Middleton National Night Out.
The event will take place at Lakeview Park in Middleton on Wednesday August 8th, 2012, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. National Night Out is an opportunity for communities nationwide to promote police-community partnerships, crime prevention and neighborhood camaraderie.
This year’s festivities will include free food, door prizes, DJ, children’s games/activities, VIP dunk tank and participation by our Fire Department, EMS, Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies including K-9 and mounted (horse) patrols. Med-Flight and DEA helicopters have also been invited. Citizens will be able to tour the squad cars, fire apparatus and ambulance and have a chance to meet and talk to Officers, Paramedics and Firefighters.
From Sun Prairie Police Department:
The City of Sun Prairie will be celebrating National Night Out on Thursday August 9th from 6‐8 p.m.
This year, the event will be held in Cannery Square in Downtown Sun Prairie (across from City Hall). Residents and visitors are invited to meet staff from a variety of City Departments, as well get an upclose
look at some of the vehicles and equipment that they use every day. In addition, several City Council members will be riding along with our officers in several area neighborhoods that afternoon.
The following Departments and Agencies are scheduled to participate: the Sun Prairie Police Department, the Sun Prairie Fire Department, Sun Prairie EMS, the Sun Prairie Department of Public
Works, Sun Prairie Utilities, the Dane County Sheriff, the Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
Sun Prairie Police Chief Patrick Anhalt said “We look forward to this event every year as it gives us a chance to interact with residents, and it provides a unique opportunity for residents and visitors learn
more about our City and what we do.” The City of Sun Prairie would also like to thank Target Corporation for being a participating sponsor for National Night Out. They will be raffling off two kid’s bicycles for free, and will also have several activities for kids.
