At 1:59 AM on Sunday December 02, 2012 a crash occurred on I-39 SB at 172.5 mile marker in Rock County near Janesville.
Assisting agencies included Janesville Fire and Janesville EMS.
The crash involved 1 fatality and 3 injuries.
The details of the crash are as follows:
The pickup was on the ramp to I-39 SB from USH 14 EB and was approaching the Interstate from the ramp lane where he was going to merge. The driver accelerated and the tires lost traction on the wet pavement causing him to lose control of the vehicle.
The pickup went sideways and down into the right ditch rolling twice. At some point the front right passenger was ejected and fatally injured. The pickup went through the chainlink fence and came to rest on its tires. Three of the four occupants were injured and transported by ambulance to the hospital. Three of the four occupants were not seatbelted in.
