KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) -- A single-engine airplane has crash-landed near the Kenosha County jail, but the pilot is not hurt.
The sheriff's office says the plane crashed shortly after takeoff Thursday afternoon from the Kenosha Regional Airport. The airport is across a two-lane county road from the county detention center.
Authorities say the plane ended up only a few hundred feet from the jail. But jail security was never compromised.
WGTD-FM (http://bit.ly/gnwL2M) reports the pilot was unable to gain altitude. On the way down, one of the wings of the plane hit a tree, causing the plane to spin around.
The pilot was the only person aboard the plane.
