UPDATED Tuesday, May 1, 2012 --- 1:12 p.m.

LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) -- La Crosse County prosecutors have charged two men with killing a young La Crosse woman at her apartment in March.

Police say one of the men, 19-year-old Kong Vue, told investigators he went to the apartment to steal a purse and shot 22-year-old Sara Hougom when she confronted him. Hougom was able to call 911 from her cell phone and died at a La Crosse hospital. Vue and his 21-year-old uncle, Pao Choua Vue, are charged with first-degree intentional homicide in Hougom's death.

WKBT-TV says the two men are also charged with attempted homicide for a drive-by shooting minutes earlier in another part of the city. Police say bullet casings were recovered from both shootings and matched a .22 caliber handgun.
