Saturday Morning Wisconsin News Headlines

Posted Saturday, June 2, 2012 --- 5:55 a.m.

Here is the latest Wisconsin news from The Associated Press:

WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) — State elections officials say they've issued at least 182,000 ballots in this Tuesday's recall races. The numbers underscore yet again the intensity of the contest pitting Republican Governor Scott Walker against Democrat Tom Barrett. Voters cast about 231,000 absentee ballots in the November 2010 regular gubernatorial election.

MUSKEGON, Mich. (AP) — Members of the Muskegon Motorcycle Gang are mourning the death of one of their own in Wisconsin. Daniel Winsemius was killed Thursday when a 25-year-old Hilbert, Wisconsin man's car crossed the center line in the Michigan Town of Taycheedah and hit 10 of the 12 motorcycles. A prayer vigil for Winsemius and those hurt in the crash was held yesterday in Muskegon.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — A 75-year-old Milwaukee man is now charged in the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old boy who lived next door. John Henry Spooner is charged with one count of first-degree intentional homicide and use of a dangerous weapon. Spooner remains in jail. A phone message left at his home was not immediately returned yesterday.

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) — A semi-truck stolen from Milwaukee made it more than 650 miles to Jamestown, North Dakota before authorities tracked it down. The semi was recovered Thursday after being spotted on Highway 52. North Dakota Patrol Captain Brian Niewind says that the company that owns the truck pinpointed its location through GPS.
