Sikh group hopes to sue Indian official in Wis.

Posted Friday, July 5, 2013 --- 1:09 p.m.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A Sikh group hoping to serve a federal summons on an Indian head of state while he's in Wisconsin is doubling its reward for anyone who can deliver the papers to him.

Sikhs for Justice originally offered a $10,000 reward to anyone who serves papers on Parkash Singh Badal. He's the chief minister of the Indian state of Punjab. The human-rights group on Friday raised the reward to $20,000.

Group spokesman Gurpatwant Pannun says Badal is planning to be in Milwaukee for a wedding Saturday. He says Badal oversees a police force that has committed human-rights violations against Sikhs.

Badal's spokesman has said the group's efforts are "politically motivated."

A court summons can be handed to a recipient or even dropped at his feet.
