Storm brings heavy snow to Wisconsin

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A winter storm is bringing heavy snow to parts of Wisconsin on a busy holiday travel and shopping day.

A winter storm warning is out from southwestern Wisconsin into northeastern Wisconsin. The National Weather Service says 3 to 5 inches of snow are expected in the Green Bay area, the Fox Valley and along Lake Michigan, with locally heavier amounts south and east of the valley. Lower amounts are expected in central and far northeastern Wisconsin. Gusty northerly winds will cause some blowing and drifting snow.

The weather service says very poor travel conditions are expected for much of central and eastern Wisconsin, so travelers are urged to use extreme caution or wait until road conditions improve.

Several churches in Milwaukee, Waukesha and Dodge counties have canceled Sunday morning services.
