VIDEO: Severe Storms: Wisconsin Storm Damage

UPDATED Thursday, May 3, 2012 --- 11:58 a.m.

OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) -- Strong thunderstorms across Wisconsin have caused flooding, hail damage, power outages and road closures.

Calumet County emergency management director Matthew Marmor says basements in about 20 homes in the Hilbert area are flooded. Marmor says widespread street flooding in Hilbert early Thursday has receded. In Manitowoc County, access to the Town of Rockwood was closed because of high flood water. Flooding also closed a portion of Highway 41 in both directions in Winnebago and Fond du Lac counties Thursday morning.

In western Wisconsin, the Blair-Taylor School District canceled classes Thursday because of storm damage. Numerous power lines and trees were down. About 30 homes in the Arcadia trailer park sustained wind and hail damage.

Wisconsin Public Service says the storms interrupted power for about 3,000 customers in Rhinelander, Green Bay and Tomahawk.

Winnebago County Emergency Management says some basement flooding is being reported.

No specific requests for assistance have been made of the State. Wisconsin Emergency Management will continue to monitor the situation.

OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) -- The light of day has provided a better assessment of damage in western Wisconsin Thursday where strong storms knocked down trees and power lines and caused hail damage.

Much of the damage is in Trempealeau County. Crews blocked off roads into the community of Blair where numerous power lines and trees were down. WEAU-TV says (http://bit.ly/ItOpmG ) a shelter was set up at the Blair-Taylor High School for anyone needing it. The school district called off classes Thursday.
