Sunday Morning Wisconsin News Headlines

Posted Sunday, July 22, 2012 -- 6:25 a.m.

Here is the latest Wisconsin news from The Associated Press:

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The father of a 27-year-old man shot in a Colorado movie theater says his son is walking with the help of a walker. Carey Rottman was shot in the leg early Friday while watching a midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" in suburban Denver. Rottman is a Mequon native.

OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — Two of Oshkosh Corporation's current production vehicles appear in the new Batman movie, "Dark Knight Rises." Company spokesman John Daggett could not disclose how many were used, but actress Anne Hathaway's character is depicted in one of its husky Logistics Vehicle System Replacement trucks.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Governor Scott Walker has issued an energy emergency proclamation for northeast Wisconsin. That's because a petroleum pipeline between Milwaukee and Green Bay was shut down after a gasoline leak was detected Tuesday near Jackson. Department of Administration spokesman Chris Schoenherr (SHAYNE-hair) says Illinois-based West Shore Pipeline Company was repairing the leak and hoped to resume operations soon.

ONALASKA, Wis. (AP) — Archaeologists are finding ancient remains possibly of Native Americans in the ground beneath the reconstruction of Highway 35 in the La Crosse area. Scientists from the Mississippi Valley Archaeology Center say they've found almost two dozen likely skeletal fragments. They've also found hundreds of artifacts from the Oneota people who inhabited the Onalaska area between about 1300 and 1600 AD.
