TOWN OF YORKVILLE, Wis. (AP) — A fire in a southeastern Wisconsin wheat field has destroyed seven to 10 acres of crop. The fire was reported Friday afternoon in the Town of Yorkville. Fire officials say by the time firefighters arrived, six to seven acres of mostly unharvested wheat were ablaze. Yorkville is about 10 miles west of Racine.
LAND O' LAKES, Wis. (AP) — A 2-year-old boy who was found unconscious in a Vilas County pool has died. The sheriff's office says someone called 911 on Friday evening to report an unresponsive boy in a pool at a Land O' Lakes home. The boy's name hasn't been released.
HUSTISFORD, Wis. (AP) — The Dodge County sheriff's office is stepping up its patrols in local cemeteries after thieves stole brass flag markers from the gravesites of 20 veterans. Deputies responded to a complaint this week by the Hustisford American Legion. Hustisford is 35 miles south of Fond du Lac.
MILWAUKEE (AP) — A federal jury in Green Bay will hear testimony starting tomorrow in the case of a Kaukauna man accused of smashing a window at a Planned Parenthood clinic and starting a small fire inside. Fifty-year-old Francis Grady is charged with arson and intentionally damaging a reproductive-health facility. His trial is expected to last two days. A message left with his defense attorney was not immediately returned yesterday.
