UPDATE: 4 people hurt when vehicle hits horse buggy in Columbia County

UPDATED Thursday, July 11, 2013 --- 2:56 p.m.

Four people were injured in av an and Amish buggy crash in Columbia Co. Thursday.

It happened just before 9 a.m. on Highway 22 north of Highway 33 in the Township of Marcellon.

Deputies say a Dennis Thom fell asleep while driving a van, and rear ended the buggy.

Two adults and three children, ages 5, 4 and 10 months were in the buggy. Norma Miller and the children were thrown from the buggy. Joni Miller was partially ejected from the buggy.

The two adults and two of the children were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The third child was not injured.

The driver of the van was not injured.

The horse had to be euthanized.

PARDEEVILLE, Wis. -- At least three people are injured, one of them a child, when a vehicle hits a horse buggy Thursday morning.

The crash happened on Highway 22 in Pardeeville just before 9:00 a.m. Columbia County dispatch tells NBC 15 News that one child was injured and is bleeding from the head. Two other people were also hurt in the crash. No word on what caused the crash.
