Posted Thursday, November 8, 2012 --- 7:15 a.m.

Here is the latest Wisconsin news from The Associated Press:

RACINE, Wis. (AP) -- Two children died in an overnight house fire in Racine and two others were seriously injured. Firefighters say bars on the windows of the children's room made it harder to reach them.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents will meet today to discuss how to provide better services for student veterans. The UW System says it's seeing "significant increases" in the number of student veterans. Some have earned college credits during their military service, and they've gained leadership experience that could be valuable to future employers.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- At least 98 salons, spas and beauty schools are raising money for the victims of the Brookfield spa shooting. The businesses plan to donate between 5 to 25 percent of their sales on a designated day. Organizers hope to raise at least $100,000.

MARINETTE, Wis. (AP) -- A keel-laying ceremony will take place today in northern Wisconsin for the USS Detroit, a combat ship that's being built by Marinette Marine Corporation. The shipbuilder is making 10 of the new advanced combat ships.
