From Rock Co. Sheriff:
On 01-22-12 at approximately 5:34 pm, Deputies from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office along with Orfordville Fire and EMS were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on S. STH 213 near S. Luther Valley Rd. in Plymouth Township. Emergency personnel began arriving on scene at 5:42 pm and were informed that there were seven individuals injured. After getting this information, Ambulances from Footville, Beloit and Janesville were dispatched to assist with the injured parties.
The initial investigation shows that a 2004 Dodge Durango operated by Brenda A. Spencer, a 39 year from Orfordville, was northbound on S. STH 213. Spencer’s husband, Paul J. Spencer, 41 from Orfordville, and four children ages 16, 10, 4 and 3 were with her. Spencer lost control of her vehicle on the ice and snow covered road at the same time a 1998 Chevy Malibu operated by Dane E. Lundwall, a 26 year old from Middleton, was heading southbound. The Durango operated by Spencer slid sideways and crossed the centerline striking Lundwall.
Lundwall was transported to Beloit Memorial Hospital with severe but non-life threatening injuries. Spencer and her husband were transported to Mercy Hospital in Janesville with severe but non-life threatening injuries. The four children were transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Janesville with minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation but speed and road conditions appear to be contributing factors. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor and all the children were secured in proper restraints at the time of the crash.
During the investigation, S. STH 213 was closed and traffic was diverted from 5:34 pm until 6:49 pm.
