STEVENS POINT, Wis. (AP) -- A University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point student is aiming for a world championship title in timber sports.

Lumberjack Ben Hansen is competing this week in Stuttgart, Germany with the U.S. Timbersports relay team. Hansen won the collegiate championships in Piegon Forge, Tenn., in June to advance to the championship competition.

The 22-year-old senior from Milladore is majoring in forestry administration and utilization. Hansen says he got into timber sports as a freshman because his roommate was a member of the Society of American Foresters.

Stevens Point Journal Media says the STIHL world championships run Thursday through Sunday.
