Unemployment Rises in all 72 Wisconsin Counties

Posted Wednesday, March 20, 2013 --- 5:45 p.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Unemployment rates increased in all 72 Wisconsin counties from December to January.

The state numbers released Wednesday were not seasonally adjusted. They range from 5.5 percent in Dane County to 15.0 percent in Menominee County.

The state Department of Workforce Development also breaks down numbers by so-called metropolitan statistical areas. All 12 areas saw unemployment rise between 1 percent and 2 percent since last month. However, compared to the same period last year, the Sheboygan area was the only region that saw a decrease, of 0.1 percent.

The state's unemployment rate increased from 6.7 percent to 7 percent, but remains below the national rate of 7.9 percent.

The data are based on monthly unemployment insurance claims and a survey of about 1,450 households. The numbers are subject to significant revision.

What this shows, is what I expected. Walker's and the Republican policies continue to fail Wisconsin. He guaranteed 250,000 jobs would be created in 4 years. As expected instead of creating jobs we are losing jobs. We are 44th in job creation since 2011. Republican will try to blame the Democrats, yet they forget they they have had the Majority since 2011. The GOP have no one to blame but themselves. Instead of job creation legislation coming forward, the GOP controlled Legislature passed a partisan Mining bill that's only focus was to a track a West Virginian mining company to Wisconsin. So once again Republicans aren't listening to Wisconsin citizens. It's time for Walker and his friends to get off there butts, work with Democrats to create jobs. Perhaps it's time for some real change in Wisconsin such as a Democratic controlled legislature and Governors office.
