Village May Scrap Lambeau Ticket Resale Ordinance

Posted Wednesday, July 18, 2012 --- 11:14 a.m.

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (AP) -- The village of Ashwaubenon will consider scrapping an ordinance restricting the resale of Green Bay Packers tickets outside Lambeau Field.

Public Safety Chief Eric Dunning says the ordinance, adopted in 1997, has become too difficult to enforce. It requires ticket resellers to pay $800 to register with the village, submit to a background check, wear identification and sell in a designated area.

Dunning says the village doesn't have enough police power to effectively enforce the ordinance. He also tells the Green Bay Press-Gazette that technology has changed ticket sales since the ordinance was initially adopted. Reputable ticket vendors are available online.

A village board committee is recommending the board scrap the ordinance.
