Walker Downplays 2016 Presidential Run

Posted Monday, March 18, 2013 --- 11:46 a.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Gov. Scott Walker is downplaying his interest in being president, saying he loves being governor and is not running for any other job.

Walker was asked Monday about his intentions for running for president in 2016 after he spoke at the state's annual conference on tourism.

Walker has frequently been mentioned as a potential Republican candidate for president. He finished sixth in a straw poll of potential GOP candidates at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington held over the weekend.

Walker on Monday also reiterated he will continue to support the state's ban on same-sex marriage. He backed the 2006 state constitutional amendment banning gay marriage and civil unions and has long opposed same-sex marriage.

I think he would be a great President. Hes the only one who has some common sense about money and the fact that if we don't have money we don't spend.
