WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) -- Waukesha County sheriff's officials say a deputy shot and wounded a man in a wooded area in Vernon.
Sheriff Dan Trawicki said Tuesday the man's roommate called 911 Monday night because she was worried he had been drinking and could be a danger to himself and others.
Three deputies found the man in his car in the woods about 8:15 p.m. Trawicki says when the first deputy made contact with the man, the deputy felt threatened and shot the 52-year-old man in the forearm. The sheriff declined to describe the threat.
The deputy is on administrative leave. The wounded man is recovering at the hospital.
