ASHLAND, Wis. (AP) -- An Ashland man who was convicted of killing an 18-year-old by pushing him over a cliff along Lake Superior was sentenced to 6 1/2 years in prison. Twenty-three-year-old Cass Corbine pleaded no contest to felony murder for the death of Marvin Charette the Third.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Campers in Madison dismantled their tents and left a city-owned lot yesterday that had been the site of an Occupy Madison demonstration. The encampment had evolved into a gathering spot of mostly homeless people. They had until noon yesterday to leave.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The former chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is the new chief academic officer at the University of Wisconsin System. Mark Nook is becoming the system's senior vice president for academic and student affairs. He's held the position on an interim basis since last summer.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Wisconsin wildlife officials say another survey shows no signs of a deadly bat disease. White-nose syndrome causes bats to wake up during hibernation and quickly deplete their energy stores. It's killed as many as 6.7 million bats in the eastern United States and Canada.
