SHAWANO, Wis. (AP) -- A Menasha man who was wanted in connection with a domestic disturbance has died after his speeding SUV slammed head-on into a semi truck and burst into flames.
Deputies say 35-year-old Keith L. Carpenter was pronounced dead at the scene. The collision happened Tuesday about 12:45 a.m. at Highway 29 in Shawano County.
While deputies were investigating the crash, Menasha police were looking for Carpenter on a report of a domestic disturbance a few hours earlier.
Witnesses say Carpenter's SUV turned off its lights moments before slamming into the semi.
The collision resulted in a large spill of diesel fuel. The SUV caught fire and burned until fire officials put it out.
Highway 29 was closed for about six hours in both directions.
