MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The public will get a chance to sound off on state environmental officials' draft management plan for land along the Wolf River later this month.

The Department of Natural Resources has proposed a management plan for public properties along the river between the Shawano Dam and Lake Poygan.

The plan emphasizes outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, camping and wildlife viewing. It also calls for protecting walleye and sturgeon spawning areas as well as preserving rare natural areas such as tamarack bogs.

The DNR has scheduled public meetings on the plan for May 23 at the Navarino Natural Center in Shiocton and for May 31 at Mosquito Hill Nature Center in New London.
