Wis. Gov Says State Has Budget Surplus

Posted Thursday, May 10, 2012 --- 4L58 p.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Republican Gov. Scott Walker's administration says new revenue projections show the state will finish the 2011-2013 biennium with a $154.5 million surplus.

The nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau estimated in February the state would finish the two-year period with a $143 million deficit. But Department of Administration Secretary Mike Huebsch wrote in a letter to Walker on Thursday that personal income growth has been stronger than anticipated and the state now expects to collect $265 million more in taxes than the Legislative Fiscal Bureau expected.

The developments are good news for Walker, who faces Democrat Tom Barrett in a June 5 recall election. Democrats are trying to oust Walker from office as payback for proposing a contentious law stripping most public workers of nearly all their union rights.

They can't even get a simple math problem correct. If you will collect 265 million more in taxes and you had a 143 million deficit then you should now end up with 122 million surplus not the 154.5 million the article states. Did the deficit walker claimed the state faced after he took office ever really exist? He advertises on tv that he balanced the budget but the budget figures change daily. No one will know till the 2 years are up if it ends up with a deficit or surplus. How much debt did walker extend into the future beyond June 30, 2013 to be able to make that "balanced budget" statement? Try finding out and you will be nuts in short order. If there was ever someone to represent what is wrong with government, it is walker. i cannot figure out what supporters of him are thinking. ever notice the expressions on his 2 son's faces when they are in one of his commercials or at a news confernece. i don't think they even believe a word he says.

Lies all lies. Just a few months ago Wlaker was saying the state has a shrt fall and now we have a surplus. He can't even calculate correctly or its all about the election. He is a republican playing a shell game with the people of the state.
