Wisconsin DOJ Proposes New Concealed Carry Rules

Posted Monday, July 16, 2012 --- 11:50 a.m.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The state Justice Department wants to add more training requirements for concealed carry permits.

The agency has crafted a set of permanent rules implementing Wisconsin's concealed carry law. The agency has been operating under emergency rules since the law went into effect in November.

The new rules require permit applicants to undergo training that requires instruction on safe firearm and ammunition handling, transport and storage as well as instruction on deadly force and techniques for avoiding and controlling violent confrontations.

The emergency rules don't lay out any such specifics for training.

The agency ran afoul of the National Rifle Association last year when it first proposed permit applicants receive four hours of training. Republicans on the Legislature's rules committee erased that provision, however.

so the public is going to take a small training course like those in the police cadettes first years.is this for public safty or to put law enforcement and gun grabbers minds at ease?or,is this just anothere ploy to take away rights from the people when the right momment is at hand?what is the real deal being constructed here?it feels to me that jimmy doyle hasnt left the building and he is still in command.wisconsin finaly gets there rights to defend, and now, police and gun grabbers want to take it all away.

training for those who have never handled or carried a weapon is fine.flexing muscels on the rights of the people, dictatorial.remember, people who chose law enforcement as a job are paid and protected by there own set of rules and regulations set up by those whoenact the laws for society.the average person dont have that protection from law enforcement and judicial herassment.booklets on right to carry open and concealed.both citizens and law enforcements should have this.

I disagree with MORE RULES/REQUIREMENTS for CC... the only requirement for open carry is to pass the license application/background check thus, why all the rules regulations for CC?
