Wisconsin Man Arrested For 11th OWI

Posted: Saturday, May 12, 2012 -- 4:42 a.m.

DE PERE, Wis. (AP) -- A 55-year-old De Pere man has been charged with his 11th drunken-driving offense.

Charges say the man, Patrick Moore, was driving a motorcycle that rear-ended a sport utility vehicle Wednesday afternoon. He fell off his motorcycle while talking to a police officer, repeated himself and slurred his words.

The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports Moore said he drank two beers over lunch about an hour before the accident.

The man refused to complete field sobriety tests or a preliminary breath test but later submitted to a blood test at a hospital. He was charged Thursday with felony operating while intoxicated.

The man has 10 prior OWI convictions, with the first in 1989 and the last in 2006. He had a valid driver's license when he was arrested Wednesday.

It is crazy. It's just going to continue until some congressman/judge gets someone in their family run over and killed. So let them go, let them continue to drink and maybe after a few hundred lawmakers relatives get killed, someone will do something. But they won't. Accept these headlines forever in this State of Wisconsin. Can't wait for someone to reach 20 OWI's.

Quite obviously this man has a very serious disease. And unfortunately, sitting in jail, at our expense, won't help someone with an alcohol abuse problem. I am pretty sure he has done jail time, you get jail time after a 2nd offense. And if you note the dates of his prior convictions, he has remained out of trouble for 6 years.. I hope he can get the help he very obviously needs before he hurts himself or someone else.

This is what happens when you have a drinking culture in our State. Let's start by immediately giving colored ID/driver's license after the 1st offense so all know they've been convicted as a drunk driver. By the 2nd perhaps banning the person from being able to purchase or own any type of motor vehicle or be able to purchase alcohol for that matter. Another plan would be banning all alcohol related commercials to remove the imagery. The culture in our state has to change

Why was this man not arrested & jailed after the 3rd? You would think one night in the drunk tank would sober him up enough to not want to drink & drive again. We need to get these repeat offenders off the roads!

Unreal what kind of an alcohol problem Wisconsin has. Also, if this guy had 10 prior OWI's he should've been put in prison and had the key thrown away. He should not have been out to get his 11th!!!

Why are we letting these people have the ability to get 11 OWI's. Because he hasn't killed someone yet?? He will. Wait. PATHETIC. Not only him but our laws for doing nothing to stop this fool.
