AKRON, Iowa (AP) -- Northwest Iowa authorities have released the names of two elderly people who a sheriff says died violent deaths.

Plymouth County Sheriff Mike Van Otterloo on Friday identified them as 83-year-old John Neunaber and 80-year-old Esther Neunaber. It's unclear whether they were married or otherwise related.

Their bodies were found Wednesday. The cause of their deaths hasn't been released.

A man sought as a witness was found in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He was detained by police there after he was stopped for a traffic violation on Thursday night. He was held on the Iowa warrant for a material witness. Arrangements are being made to return him to Iowa.

Van Otterloo says the man lives at the rural Akron home where the bodies were found.

AKRON, Iowa (AP) -- A man sought as a witness to the suspicious deaths of two elderly people in northwest Iowa has been found in Wisconsin.

Authorities say 44-year-old Jonathan Neunaber was detained by police in La Crosse, Wisconsin, after he was stopped for a traffic violation on Thursday night. He was held on the Iowa warrant for a material witness.

Plymouth County Sheriff Mike Van Otterloo acknowledges that Neunaber lives at the rural Akron home where the bodies were found Wednesday, but he would not release the names of the two people.

Van Otterloo says investigators think Neunaber may know "what may have transpired before, after or during the death(s)." But the sheriff also said Neunaber "has not been charged with anything."
