MANITOWOC, Wis. (AP) -- A Manitowoc woman whose mother died at a hospital this month says six jeweled rings disappeared from her mom's fingers in the hours after her death.
Ann Stradal says she can't understand how someone could steal from a dead person.
Her mother, Jean Stradal, died Oct. 11 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center. Ann says her mother's six rings showed up on a CAT scan just before she died.
But when Ann Stradal tried to recover the rings from the funeral home the next day, the funeral director said he found no rings on her fingers.
Stradal says the jewelry included a wedding band and engagement ring made of white gold and diamonds.
A Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter report (http://htrne.ws/XDnvwA ) says a hospital official declined comment, noting police are investigating.
