RACINE, Wis. (AP) -- Officials say an apartment fire in Racine early Friday has killed one person.

Firefighters were called to the apartment building shortly after midnight, found the victim and took her to the hospital. Fire crews were able to quickly put out the fire, which caused about $15,000 damage.

The Journal Times (http://bit.ly/KgGpAc ) says the Red Cross is providing shelter to residents of the apartment building who were displaced by the fire.
