A Wisconsin man is counting his blessings after being attacked by a bear.

Kevin Schultz was bow hunting near Ladysmith when he looked down from his tree stand and saw several bears.

He started making noises to try and distract the bears but it was too late.

A baby cub managed to climb up the tree past him and soon ...

The mother bear was on her way up the tree as well.

Schultz says, "That's when i started getting nervous she got about to where my feet were and after that it was all big commotion I'm not sure exactly what happened in what order. I tried to fight her off with my bow and i tried to kick her and then she really started grabbing me trying to pull me out of the tree stand."

Schultz credits his safety belt for keeping him from falling 14-feet to the ground during the attack, Schultz says the mother bear bit his side, his leg and tore into his arm.
