Cat Reunited with Owner

An Oconto County woman who lost everything in the June tornado is reunited with a pet she thought was gone for good.

Wanda Ploeger's mobile home in Mountain and possessions were destroyed by the tornado and her cat Smokey disappeared. Ploeger searched for Smokey, hoping he had gotten out of the home before the tornado hit.

But, the days stretched into weeks and then months, until last weekend when she and her ex-husband were driving down a country road on their way to check on Ploeger's new home.

That's where they spotted Smokey, three miles from the old house and three months after he disappeared. Ploeger says her cat has some infected wounds, lost a few pounds and probably survived on whatever he could catch.

Now that they've been reunited, Ploeger says she feels a lot better about starting over in her new home.
