SHIOCTON, Wis. (AP) -- A 10-foot python is on the loose at a wildlife center in Outagamie County, although officials are quick to say it poses little threat to humans.
Tim Ewing is the director of the Navarino Nature Center, which is on the 15,000 acres of the Navarino Wildlife Center in Shiocton. He says a visitor took a photo of the python on Memorial Day weekend.
He says crews have been searching for it ever since. But he notes that finding one snake on 15,000 acres is like finding a needle in a haystack.
Ewing says pythons aren't native to the area, so it's most likely an abandoned pet.
He says it would likely be more interested in the area's smaller animals such as beavers, otters and ducks, but not humans.
