BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- It's a presidential pepperoni pizza. President Barack Obama dropped into a Boulder, Colorado, bar on a surprise visit earlier this week. The president ordered a pizza, which has now been renamed in his honor. It's now called the called the P.O.T.U.S pie -- for President of the United States. The P.O.T.U.S pie is topped with pepperoni, sausage, green pepper, black olives and onion. President Obama also signed a wall at the Boulder institution. The president was in town to speak at the University of Colorado
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Two things you don't want to joke about -- killing the president and hijacking a plane. But a 31-year-old man from Utah is accused of doing both. According to federal authorities, Jeremiah Douglas Hill was apparently pulling a prank on a buddy when he put a threatening note his in co-worker's luggage. It was discovered by an airport screener. Investigators say Hill told them he hoped his co-worker would find it before passing through security. Hill's now charged with a misdemeanor.
NEW YORK (AP) -- Even jaded New Yorkers are bound to be impressed. The space shuttle Enterprise is due to arrive in New York today. It will ride atop a modified Boeing 747 cargo plane. The piggy-back combo is set to make low-level passes over the city and some of its best known landmarks, including the Statue of Liberty. The shuttle will land at Kennedy Airport. It will eventually go on display at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum on Manhattan's west side. It will be transported by barge to the museum in June. In the meantime, the Enterprise will be kept at Kennedy Airport.
JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. (AP) -- Stuck in a tree? Firefighters will come to the rescue. Two Army paratroopers had a more exciting practice jump than they planned. The soldiers landed in different trees when wind blew them off course at a military base in Washington state. Firefighters from nearby Lacey responded. Battalion Chief Steve Crimmins says they used their tall ladder for one rescue. The Joint Base Lewis-McChord Fire Department brought down the other paratrooper. A military spokesman says no was hurt. The spokesman adds the base is "just very thankful" to the local fire crew.
DIME WINS THOUSANDS
SUNLAND PARK, N.M. (AP) -- Julia Kring thought she had won about 32-grand on a dime bet. But her jackpot is a whole lot more. She wins $63,000 playing the Solo Pick 6 at New Mexico's Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino. The 72-year-old retiree tells the El Paso Times she's been playing the horses for close to 40 years. While she usually studies the horses and their records, Kring says her Pick 6 win was all luck. To win the jackpot, she successfully bet on six races.
UNIV OF COLO BEAR
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- A trespasser has been sent packing at the University of Colorado. A 200-pound male bear wandered around a campus dorm area -- near the Bear Creek Apartments. Then the big guy rested in a tree for a couple of hours. State wildlife officers tranquilized the animal, which fell onto thick mats from the campus rec center. The bear has been returned to the mountains.
