Friday Morning Bizarre News Headlines

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) -- There was an unexpected guest at the last day of classes at a California elementary school and a graduation ceremony at a middle school next door. A 150-pound black bear showed up. A teacher called authorities as the bear approached the schools, but the animal kept its distance and nobody was in danger. Although, students who were outside went indoors. Within minutes of getting the report, officers cornered the animal at an apartment complex, hit it with a stun gun, and loaded it into a truck. The Bakersfield Californian says the animal was released back into the wild about in a spot one and an half hours southeast of Bakersfield.

CHICAGO (AP) -- Could the Super Bowl make its way to Chicago? Mayor Rahm Emanuel has made a pitch for his city to host the big game. He and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell talked about it this week. Goodell says the NFL's 2014 Super Bowl is in an open-air stadium in New York. He says if that one's successful, it opens doors for other cities. Chicago winters are brutal, Soldier Field doesn't have a roof and it holds just 63,500 fans. Even so, Emanuel says Chicago would be a "perfect place" to have a Super Bowl.

RENO, Nev. (AP) -- Nevada wildlife officials have a trapped a furry, 100-pound chicken rustler and now they're looking for his mom. The state wildlife department says a mother black bear and a 15-month-old cub attacked and ate 17 chickens in an area south of Reno. A trap has been put out that's covered with molasses and cheesecake. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports officials hope to tranquilize the animals, mark them and release them back into the mountains.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Contrary to reports, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi isn't married yet. She did not tie the knot during her recent stay in the Cayman Islands. Florida Governor Rick Scott and his wife were among guests in Grand Cayman last weekend for what turned out to be a "celebration" in advance of Bondi's actual wedding to a Tampa eye doctor. Media reports about Bondi's trip had fueled speculation about whether she planned to get married and then called it off. The prompted Bondi to email a newspaper and say she is happily in love with Greg Henderson. The wedding date hasn't been disclosed.

KYLE, Texas (AP) -- Forget just one double-take. A Central Texas school with a senior class of nearly 400 has nine sets of twins graduating. The Austin American-Statesman reports no one realized how many sets of twins were graduating from Lehman High School in Kyle until some twins who are on the yearbook staff decided to count.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois may start taxing strip clubs to help sexual assault victims. A measure is going to the governor's desk that would use that funding source to bring in new money for sexual assault prevention and critical services for rape victims. The measure would put an annual surcharge on strip clubs that have live nude dancing and permit alcohol. Businesses could pay $3 per person who enters or pay a graduated amount based on their sales.
