Release from Crawford County Sheriff's Office:

On November 28, 2011 a safe found in Grant County, WI was brought to the Crawford County Sheriff's Department. The safe was found in a ditch on Markley Hollow Rd. approximately 1.2 miles south from CTH C on the west side of the road.

The metal safe was rusty and appeared to have been painted green and/or brown at one time. The safe was tagged in different places. Two tags above the safe opening displayed the following; the upper tag displayed S-Cientest Model / The Safe-Cabinet Co. Marietta, Ohio; the lower tag displayed Underwriters' laboratories, INC. / Inspected Light Weight Safe 5083. A tag on the back of the safe displayed Serial No. 31444 and the No. 1562 was pressed into the metal surface of the safe. The safe is 63 3/4 inches tall or 65 inches tall if measurement includes the wheels, the width is 37 inches, and the depth is 26 1/2 inches.

The safe appeared to have been tampered with because of possible torch marks. The doors were reportedly off the safe and several shelves, file drawer, etc.. were lying around the safe.

Anyone with information contact the Grant County Sheriff's Department or Crawford County Sheriff's Department.
