Thursday Morning Bizarre New Headlines

MANNING-SNL

NEW YORK (AP) -- Eli Manning as a Chippendales dancer? The Super Bowl-winning New York Giants quarterback will be hosting "Saturday Night Live" this weekend. He says his favorite all-time SNL skit is probably the one where Chris Farley and Patrick Swayze were Chippendales dancers. No word, though, if Manning will be shaking it on his show. Big brother Peyton has already hosted SNL. Eli says he didn't want to do it after his first Super Bowl victory, because Peyton did a year earlier. Eli says he's gotten calls of encouragement from Peyton and from John Madden, who hosted SNL in 1982.

NIAGARA FALLS TIGHTROPE

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (AP) -- Daredevil Nik Wallenda will get to look down on Niagara Falls. He plans to cross the Falls on a tightrope June 15th. The seventh-generation member of the Flying Wallendas announced details of his stunt yesterday at the Falls. He figures the 1,800-foot walk will take about a-half hour. The weather will determine if he'll start on the New York or Canadian side. Death-defying feats at the Falls date back more than a century. But today the daredevils risk more than life and limb, they could also be busted. The OK for the high-wire attempt took an act of the New York Legislature and approval from Canadian parks officials.

AIRPORT SECURITY-STRIPPER E7461

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Airport stripper John Brennan wants to go to trial. He was busted, after authorities say he took off his clothes at the Portland, Oregon, airport. Brennan says he was protesting security measures. He's turned down the option of treating the misdemeanor charge like a speeding ticket. The result probably would have been community service and a letter of apology. His lawyer tells a local paper (The Oregonian) the no-trial option would have been the easy way out.

ICE CREAM-ODD FLAVORS

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. (AP) -- The Ice Cream Store is selling crack -- and customers can't get enough. The Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, shop is debuting 21 new flavors for this summer. One is called Crack, which features vanilla ice cream with pasteurized egg yolk, butter and sea salt. Manager Lisa Young says it's "the ultimate French vanilla," that's so good it's "addictive." The Daily Times of Salisbury reports another flavor is Ghost Pepper, that has three pepper hot sauces added to it. It's so hot, customers have to sign a waiver.

SCALPED GRADUATION TICKETS

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) -- Business school grads are getting a real life lesson in the law of supply and demand. Graduation is tomorrow at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. Students had until April 30th to pick up their tickets. They're all gone now. Students who didn't act quickly enough are turning to eBay and Craigslist to buy them. Shannon Beatty tells the Indianapolis Star graduation tickets are going for 200 bucks apiece. She's upset the school didn't hold some back. Dean Daniel Smith is asking students with extra tickets to return them, instead of selling them.

CROSS-DRESSING ROBBER

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) -- She is really a he. And he is going to prison. Joshua Parker has pleaded quilty to robbing the same Missouri bank twice and both times he was dressed as a woman. The 20-year-old was sentenced yesterday to 37 months in prison. Police say they chased his getaway car after the second robbery for a few blocks. According to authorities, Parker then made a run for it. But he was no longer wearing women's clothes. Police say he wasn't wearing much of anything. He had on just socks and shorts when he was busted.
