SEXUALITY CLASS-COMPLAINT

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) -- Western Nevada College student Karen Royce has filed a federal harassment claim against the school over a human sexuality class. The 60-year-old Royce says the prof ordered students to masturbate as a required assignment. She says it's "so inappropriate." School officials tell the Nevada Appeal newspaper the students were warned about the explicit nature of the class. Administrators say more than 300 students have taken freshman-level Human Sexuality and this is the first complaint.

ROCKEFELLER CENTER TREE

MIFFLINVILLE, Pa. (AP) -- A small-town tree is heading to the big city. The 74-foot Norway Spruce will be this year's Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. It was cut down yesterday in Mifflinville, Pennsylvania, and loaded on a truck. The huge evergreen is scheduled to arrive in the Big Apple tomorrow. It will be decorated with 30,000 multicolored LED lights. A nine-foot Swarovski crystal star will top tree. After the holidays, the tree will be milled into lumber for the charity Habitat for Humanity.

ROBBER REFUSED

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (AP) -- Just say no -- to a robber. That's what an 86-old-year woman did at her Michigan ice cream shop. The owner (Irene Szlachtowicz) says the 17-year-old would-be bandit asked for a cigar then demanded all the cash in the register. The elderly woman said she took a step back and told the teen she couldn't do that. The Macomb Daily reports a potential customer pulled up to Miller Bros. Creamery in a pickup and the teen ran. Police caught the teenager, who has pleaded guilty to unarmed robbery.

MARIJUANA WATERMELON SEIZURE

NOGALES, Ariz. (AP) -- More than melons in a shipment from Mexico. Authorities charge nearly 3,000 pounds pot was stashed in a load of watermelons. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers made the discovery at an Arizona border crossing. Authorities say an X-ray revealed something wasn't right with the load. An inspection revealed 128 bundles of marijuana mixed in with the melons. The driver, who's from Mexico, was busted.

ALLIGATOR SEIZED

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- The cops got the gator -- and the pot. Authorities in Omaha, Nebraska, had been after illegal reptiles. But police report finding a marijuana operation, too. According to authorities, David Randall had a 2-foot-alligator, a rat snake and 33 tortoises and turtles in his home. Police also report finding more than 75 pot plants. Randall now faces a number of charges.

PARKS-FREE PARKING

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Everyone will be getting a Veterans Day perk in Virginia tomorrow. Parking will be free for all visitors to state parks. Officials say the freebie is a way for all to honor veterans, active military members and their families. When the holiday is over, Governor Bob McDonnell says the daily parking fee break for vets and military families will continue through the end of the year.
