REPUBLICAN CONVENTION-STRIP CLUBS
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Strip club owner Don Kleinhans wants to give Republicans a break. The GOP's convention gets underway in Tampa, Florida next week -- a city famous for its nude dancers. Kleinhans is the co-owner of the club, 2001 Odyssey. He says he's putting in a private entrance and VIP section for Republicans who want to get out and sample the night life. But Joe Redner, owner of the club Mons Venus, doesn't expect much business from the GOP. He says the Republicans are not coming to Tampa to party.

A short time later, a deputy says he saw Owens trying to open the door of a locked Pontiac GTO. The Tampa Bay Times reports Owens claimed the car belonged to a friend, who was there to give him a lift. But the car actually belongs to a deputy. Owens is now charged with auto burglary.

HAMBURG TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- A kid who jumped on his bike only wearing his underwear is being hailed as a hero. Ten-year-old A.J. A.J. hopped on his bike to get his mother. She was at a nearby beach, with A.J.'s little sister. A local paper (Livingston County Daily Press & Argus) reports the quick thinking kid likely saved his dad's life.
