BURBANK, Calif. (AP) -- David Letterman -- for vice president? GOP presidential front-runner Mitt Romney was on Jay Leno's "Tonight Show" last night. Romney jokes that he might select Letterman as his running mate. He says that would also be good for Leno, getting rid of his late-night competitor. As for rival Rick Santorum, Romney said he might play a role in his administration, as press secretary. Santorum recently cussed out a New York Times reporter, accusing the journalist of misinterpreting some of his comments.

PILLSBURY BAKE-OFF

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- What's for dessert? How about Pumpkin Ravioli with Salted Caramel Whipped Cream? It's the creation of Christina Verrelli from Devon, Pennsylvania. She's the winner of the 2012 Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest. Verrelli wins $1 million and 10-grand worth of GE kitchen appliances. CHRISTO-PERMIT

DENVER (AP) -- Artist Christo is a step closer to his next massive project. Christo wants to suspend nearly nine miles of fabric along stretches of the Arkansas River by U.S. 50 in Colorado. Fremont County commissioners yesterday voted to approve a permit for the Over The River project. But Christo still has a number of bureaucratic hurdles, including permits from the Colorado Department of Transportation, and eventually the State Patrol. The plans call for the fabric panels go up in August of 2015 and come down two weeks later. Opponents contend it would create traffic problems and environmental issues.

CEZANNE WATERCOLOR-AUCTION

NEW YORK (AP) -- A lost painting is a rare find. A watercolor study by Paul Cezanne is going up for auction and his expected to fetch around $20 million. The painting was last seen in 1953. It was rediscovered this year in the collection of a late pediatrics expert from Texas. It depicts a card player wearing a hat and jacket, rendered in hues of blue and ochre. The only known image of it had been a black-and-white photo. The Cezanne will go under the gavel May 1 at Christie's in New York City.

YARNSTORMING-MICHIGAN

ROYAL OAK, Mich. (AP) -- A guerrilla knitter strikes in a Detroit suburb. The yarn bomber has hit Royal Oak at least twice. WXYZ-TV reports the mystery knitter has covered a bus stop sign post and tree stump with yarn creations. The sign pole is wrapped with what looks like a giant black-and-white striped sock, with colored puff balls. Yarn bombers have left their mark in public spots from Berkeley, California, to Melbourne, Australia.

DIGITIZING MEDIEVAL MANUSCRIPTS

BALTIMORE (AP) -- It's the 13th century meeting the 21st. A Baltimore museum is getting $265,000 to digitize more than 110 medieval Flemish manuscripts, including a collection of prayer books trimmed with gold. The grant, from the National Endowment for the Humanities, is going to the Walters Art Museum. Officials there say a highlight will be converting 80 "best sellers" from the Middle Ages to digital form.
